Bright: The Microcast

The latest stats show that Black women are making waves in the entrepreneurial world, despite navigating challenges unique to us. This isn’t new.
In the Caribbean, young girls who were fearless, bold, and outspoken were often told to tone it down. They were shushed, chastised, and labeled “too bright” or “bright and facety.”
But here’s the thing: those very traits are what it takes to sustain a business, build communities, and leave a lasting legacy.
To celebrate the girls who grew up to own their boldness and lead their own futures, we’ve partnered with Waithe Avenue to present Bright: The Microcast. This series shines a light on the women who’ve reclaimed “bright” as the compliment it’s always been.
Know someone who deserves to have a light shone on them? Nominate them here to be featured on the microcast.
